Gardening Volunteer (West Lothian)

Closing Date: 01/06/2020, Location: Edinburgh and Lothians

We need green fingered volunteers with to work their magic at the Linburn Centre! By donating your time, knowledge and skills you’ll help maintain and develop our stunning gardens where our veterans can enjoy tranquillity, natural beauty and abundant sensory stimulation.

This rewarding role will involve plenty of hands-on gardening, redevelopment and ground preparation. Moreover, we want you to have your say; you’ll be included in garden design and layout, and the planting of plants and shrubs.

As a volunteer, you will meet inspiring people, gain valuable experiences, and help us to change the lives of those who have served their country.

Wood Workshop Volunteer (West Lothian)

If you enjoy helping others and have a love for woodworking, we have the perfect role for you. By donating your time, knowledge and talent you’ll help our members develop their skills and creativity in our fully equipped, purpose-build workshop.

This is a rewarding volunteer role for the right person; you will support members with their tasks and projects, so your technical knowledge and experience will be key. Also important will be your interpersonal skills, as we’re looking for someone who can engage our members in conversation and support interaction between them.

As a volunteer, you will meet inspiring people, gain valuable experiences, and help us to change the lives of those who have served their country.

Volunteer Befriender/Group Helper (Hamilton)

Closing Date: 01/06/2020, Location: Greater Glasgow

We’re looking for a friendly volunteer with good people skills to help us run our lunch clubs for veterans. These can get pretty busy with 30+ members on occasion, and they play a vital role in easing isolation. The main part of your role will be to provide a warm welcome and to chat to members, particularly those who are new and/or needing help in mixing with each other.

Volunteer Driver (Paisley)

What does Scottish War Blinded do?

Scottish War Blinded provides free support to veterans living with significant sight loss across Scotland, and are here to help all veterans regain independence after sight loss.

What team will you be supporting and what do they do?

The team at Hawkhead are enthusiastic and motivated and aim to provide a quality service to the members of Scottish War Blinded. The Centre provides activities and equipment for veterans with a vision impairment helping to tackle social isolation and promote independence. 

Volunteering at the Hawkhead Centre will directly enhance the range of activities and support that we can provide to our members.
