Tasks and Responsibilities 

 
  1. To assist within the wood workshop supporting members with tasks and projects.  
  2. Supporting the social interaction between members 
  3. Supporting members with a range of tasks within the workshop including the preparation of wood, assisting members with the development of small and medium size projects as well as engaging members in conversation.

Volunteer Befriender/Group Helper

About this role:

We’re looking for a friendly volunteer with good people skills to help us run our lunch clubs for veterans. These can get pretty busy with 30+ members on occasion, and they play a vital role in easing isolation. The main part of your role will be to provide a warm welcome and to chat to members, particularly those who are new and/or needing help in mixing with each other.

The team at Hawkhead are enthusiastic and motivated and aim to provide a quality service to the members of Scottish War Blinded. The Centre provides activities and equipment for veterans with a vision impairment helping to tackle social isolation and promote independence. 

Volunteering at the Hawkhead Centre will directly enhance the range of activities and support that we can provide to our members.
