Outreach Worker (Fife)

The Scottish War Blinded team of outreach workers is expanding. As the number of people that we support rises, we are increasing our staff team across Scotland. One of the new posts will be based in Kirkcaldy and cover the Fife region and beyond.

 

The post holder will join a team of eleven, soon to be fifteen, outreach workers who provide a person-centred, innovative service to veterans with a vision impairment. The staff work with members of Scottish War Blinded to identify and support their individual needs and so increase and maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. The post will involve considerable travel in order to visit our members in the own homes.

Director of Services

Celebrating its 225th anniversary this year, Royal Blind is the world’s oldest national institution for blind people which serves children and adults. To support an ambitious programme of change focused on increasing the organisation’s overall impact, Royal Blind is now looking to recruit the newly created role of Director of Services.

The role will assume responsibility for the strategic development and ongoing operational success of Royal Blind’s current suite of services encompassing Education, Adult & Children’s residential services and Older People’s services, whilst also developing future services.

Supporting the Chief Executive and Board, you will work closely with fellow senior managers to increase collaboration and effectiveness in relation to inter-dependencies across the organisation. Working as a core part of the Senior Management Team, there will be a focus on developing strategic partnerships and continuously improving approaches in order to achieve better outcomes in co-production with service users.

Scottish War Blinded support veterans of the armed forces who have significant vision impairment. Together they operate as the Royal Blind Group, focused on developing people’s skills and resources for independent living, as well as assisting them in fulfilment of their aspirations.

To support an ambitious programme of change focused on increasing both organisations’ overall impact, the Royal Blind Group are now looking to recruit the newly created role of Director of Corporate Resources.

With overall responsibility for the strategic development and operational success of the corporate functions of Royal Blind and Scottish War Blinded, you will ensure the consistent planning and delivery of strategic objectives, and lead and manage the Finance, HR, IT, Governance and Estates and Buildings functions. Working as a core part of the senior management team you will directly contribute to the strategic decision-making process and delivery of both organisations’ strategic plans.

An opportunity has arisen for a part time Finance Administrator working Monday and Tuesday based at Royal Blind’s Head Office in Gillespie Crescent, Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be part of a busy finance team and will provide a number of key finance and administration services in order to ensure the smooth and effective running of finance services within Head Office.

Kitchen Assistant

Royal Blind, Scotland’s largest visual impairment charity, is looking for Kitchen Assistants to join Jenny’s Well, our new care home for visually impaired older people.

 

The Kitchen Assistants will provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment to enable the kitchen and home to function effectively. They will assist in the preparation and service of meals, clear up/wash up after meals and clean areas as detailed in the work schedule.

Residential Care Worker

Child Care, Royal Blind, Salary: £26,780 - £28,725 FTE per annum, Position: Part Time, Closing Date: 26/09/2018, Location: Royal Blind School, 43 Canaan Lane, Edinburgh, EH10 4SG

An opportunity has arisen for a Residential Care Worker to work a 52 week contract for an initial period of one year. The post will be based at Royal Blind School, a school care service providing support to children and young people aged 8-18 with vision impairment and disability. The post involves shift working over the 24 hour period and weekend working.

Playworker

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Play Worker within Kidscene, an after school and holiday club welcoming children with and without disabilities in an integrated environment in the Morningside area of Edinburgh.

Applicants should have a relevant SVQ Level 2 qualification or above, preferably in Play Work, and have experience of working with 4 – 18 year olds in a play environment.
