Job Summary

Royal Blind, Scotland’s largest vision impairment charity, is looking for Care Assistants to join Braeside House, our care home for older people with a vision impairment in Edinburgh.


The Care Assistants will support the Registered Nurses to deliver a high standard of relationship centred care to older people with a vision impairment within a care home setting. The care provided will be personal outcome focused and promote dignity, privacy, independence and choice for the residents.


Key requirements:

  • Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • SVQ level 2, or willingness to work towards (with organisation’s support).
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organise time effectively, create work schedules and prioritise workloads.
  • Understanding manner towards people.


Hours:   22 hours any 4 evenings from 7 usually starting at 4.30pm and finishing at 10.00pm.

£19,731 FTE per annum

£17,316 FTE per annum

£11,732 per annum 22 hours

£10,296 per annum 22 hours
